Capacity

NSD has a capacity to produce 4.5 million kilograms of Yarn per annum. Cottage Industry alone annually consumes 130 million kilograms of Yarn. The main competition comes from imported equivalents, the level of which has varied dependent on hitherto regulatory or economic climate. There are two other Worsted Spinning Mills in Nigeria. Market demand is not a limiting factor. Knitting, Embroidery and Tailoring are the main consumers: we estimate that we serve approximately 500,000 cottage-type industries.

NSD has consolidated and expanded its capacity to produce a large volume and wide range of worsted yarns by investing both in her machinery and know how. Further Vertical Integration is possible and desirable such that NSD (or a future Group Sister Company) may provide a large part of the yarns and expertise / know-how to weave and/or knit materials (for blankets, shawls, fashion or garments) usually imported into Nigeria.
